An environmental organization honored The City of Orlando for its sustainable achievements on Friday.
The U.S. Green Building Council awarded Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orlando with Central Florida Leadership Awards at City Hall.
The nonprofit praised the city for its sustainable buildings and leadership in social responsibility.
Dyer received the Sustainability Legend Award for the Green Works program and helped Orlando receive a LEED Gold City designation.
USGBC defines LEED Gold Cities as community initiatives where local leaders plan social, economic and environmental goals to live more responsibly.
